    which package would be best?

    i have a 00 z28 m6. i have stainless works 3" exhaust and have ordered the following.

    -Mti clear lid w/ k&n
-Msd 8.5 wires and ngk plugs
    -slp 160 thermostat

now which package is the best buy and would give me at least 400+rwhp

    Speed inc

    -comp SI3 cam 224 .581 lsa114
    -comp rods
    -Asp pulley
    -ngk plugs
    -Pacesetter headers and y-pipe
    -and tune(programer w/tune---i think) ------$2650

    Or Texas speed
-Percison race stage 1 ls6 heads w/dual springs and tit. retainers
    -magic stick 4 cam
    -double roller ajustable timing set
    -head and cam gasket
    -push rods
    -ls6 ported oil pump-------$2155

with the texas speed package you would need to add a tune and pushrods which would make up the price difference.

and with the speed inc package you would need a timing chain and possibly an oil pump.

That speed inc cam is pretty mild compared the magic stick so i mean it all just depends on what you want.

I would start by adding a NX wet kit for a 1/3 of the price first and have a 11 sec. car with some drag radials and V-6 rear springs. But that is just me I can't see spending that much $ for the et improvement you'll see.
Please pm me and I'll give you much more info in detail.
    That's my 2 cents

the Texas Speed package w/the LT's and y-pipe would put you well over 400+rwhp.

I have the 'first package' minus the ASP pulley and i'm sitting at 409rwhp...

if you could go bigger than a 224 cam in that package you would be pleased and don't forget an Ls6 intake or FAST intake...

not sure what you mean by affecting the 'brakes' but for a DD car, anything over a 230-232 would be too much. i believe the MS4 cam is a pretty healthy cam that is well over the 230 range for peak HP/TQ numbers. the 224 is a great DD cam with great under the curve power (non-peak, nice strong flat TQ curve), but so would a 228/230 cam. it would be your preference in the end.

specs on my Comp Cam: 224/224 .581/.581 @112lsa

if push comes to shove you can always call them and inform them of you goals and they would be able to suggest a suitable cam for you...

id go with the text speed package, just change the cam to a 228/228. magic stick is alittle big for dd.
get an ls2 timing chain, it costs less and is good.

Just a thought here. If you are doing heads, you really dont need that much cam to reach 400rwhp. The 224 cam (+ pushrods), ls6 heads and tune should get you there easily and no need for all that other fluff stuff. And it would make it much more daily driveable.

just curious.. why would you say over a 230-232 is to much? I guess i can let yall know pretty quick here when I throw in my new cam. It is a 230-236. I was told in a cam only setup it would be over 410rwhp and is also a pretty good spray cam.
