Arctic White & Black- '98 WS6 M6 - SWAPTIME!
My Build Thread!
Going from basically stock (SLP lid, MSD wires, Flowmaster cat back, o2 simulators) to completely rebuilding (Ported 243 heads (300cfm intake/200cfm exhaust - HELL YES), ported LS6 oil pump, LS6 intake, 231/231 .621/.621 112* cam, ported throttle body (607cfm), stock valves & seals, stock rockers, LS7 lifters, hardened push rods, Comp springs, titanium locks/retainers, adjustable timing set, LS7 clutch & throwout bearing, honing cylinder walls, connecting rod bolts, LS1 piston rings, crank/cam bearings, new freeze plugs and removing EGR & AIR
I will be updating this as I go with pictures and the fun things I find along the way...
Here we go!
Beginning;
It took six hours to drop the engine & transmission ... most of the time spent trying to remove bolts that were rusty and corroded. Along the way, the EGR & AIR was thrown to the side
After that, smooth sailing ... until we got to the last bolt on the cradle ... somehow, there was a bright orange balloon wrapped around the bolt, WTF (I didn't take a picture tho)
As we were lifting the car off the engine and double checking everything was removed before going higher
All of this will be disassembled tonight and cleaned up
... I will add more tonight

Arctic White & Black- '98 WS6 M6 - SWAPTIME!
Last night, I disassembled the engine and found LOTS of interesting things ... such as a ton of sludge, burnt valves and a BLOWN HEADGASKET ... so needless to say, I'm pretty f-ing happy I'm doing this now
ALSO! I broke that stupid oil PSI sensor like EVERYONE told me not to do because I yanked on the head and it just tore it right off
the giant mess i made
tonight, cleaning up the block, ball honing the cylinder walls, polishing the crank and installing new bearings =)Last edited by tep98ws6; 12-03-2009 at 07:36 AM.

Nice work! I think I mentioned this before -- make damn sure you get all the coolant out of your bolt holes before re-installing the heads. Will the car be going on the dyno when completed?

While you have the engine and trans out, I would seriously think about installing a Tick remote bleeder. It will make Flushing/bleeding a breeze later down the road. We all know that these Fbody hydraulics want/need to be flushed yearly at least.
