2.73 gears? That has to be a miss print. Anyway, the LS3 sounds like a worthy successor to the LS2. I hope it shows up in that power form in the new Camaro.

Is the LS3 going in the new Camaro?
What about the LS7?

If they make a V8 Camaro you can rest assured it will have the LS3 as the base V8. It debuted with the LS2 because tht is what they had at the time but now the LS2 is history. I doubt very seriously the LS7 makes it into a camaro. They can use a SC LS3 and make more hp cheaper and mass built as opposed to the hand built LS7. Now I would LOVE to have a Camaro with the LS7 but my bet is I'll have to settle for the SC v8 oh well I guess I'll manage.

You don't know for a fact that the LS3 will be the camaro's base V8, so don't talk like that. You'll just confuse people who read this. GM hasn't confirmed any set plans for engines and models at this point. So let's leave it at that.
And I would have to disagree with you on the LS7. I think there will be a very high possibility that the LS7 makes it into the high-end V8 model. I think that because with the release of the LS8 and LS9 for the top-end corvettes, GM will need a slot for the LS7. They just won't stop making them. I don't think they will be hand-built motors, I think they will be mass-produced and possibly de-tuned a little, say to 460 or something. Now, for thos eof you reading, this is all WHAT I THINK. NO fact concerning the camaro, but the LS8 and LS9 are real engines that are going into the top-end vettes in 08-09 (whenever they debut).

My guess is that the base V8 Camaro will have the LS2 at 400 hp just like they said it would... because a Camaro cannot have equal horsepower to the Corvette... thus the upgrade to the LS3 in the Vette

The LS2 WILL be replaced and phased out by the time the Camaro arrives. At the arrival of every New performance engine the last year performance engine ALWAYS goes poof in the performance line up. L98's disappeared with the LT1, LT1's disapeared with the LS1, LS1's disapeared with the LS2, The LS2's will most undoubtedly disappear with a higher horsepower, lower emission, more stable LS3 gets put in regular production at the end of this year and Camaros always recieved the vette base engine at least one year after the vette debuted with it. An 09 debut even gives a whole year for the Vette to be scheduled for its next power bump. Count on it. Just read what they said about the LS2's short lifespan should confirm the fact that every slated LS2 will be replaced with the LS3.
I also see it highly unlikely that a titanium rod 427 CI LS engine detuned or not will see mass production. Tolerance levels on a 427 in a mass production engine will never hold up. I would not trust and engine like that that isn't hand built and GM won't either I bet. The LS7 will probably end up like the iconic LT5.Last edited by slims00ls1z28; 04-28-2007 at 09:28 PM.

Well when 2muchfun made his "terminator Camaro" post I think he was referring to the "rumor/fact" (which ever way you take it at this point) that a SC motor will be in the New Camaro (confirmed by mags only at this point that its going into a camaro so I don't count it as fact yet but the fact still remains that GM has a S/C 6.2 motor already slated for the top end vette) . If there is a new S/C Camaro it will have much more power than the Terminators came with stock (if a N/A LS3 has 436 imagine what the same motor with a blower will do 500+?) and throw that same grand on a larger motor with a blower as well and I think that "terminator" will still see taillights still. We'll just have to wait a couple of years to see. When I get mine I'll tell ya how it turns out .
