also, this engine's throttle body is drive by wire, what do i need to replace(besides the tb)to retofit to a cable drive throttle body?

for that kind of money you can get an 402/ 408 or a little bigger and get over 500 rwhp. if that price was about 1500.00 less it would be a good deal.

they have a complete tech article on gm high tech performance mag. not sure what issues they were but it shows swapping the ls3 into a 98-02 camaro, maybe you could look up the website of the magazine.

SDPC had 405hp LS6 longblocks for $3195 plus $129 shipping in the 48..... http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-t...or-3115-a.html This was at the beginning of the month though, no idea if they still have them.

Crate engine depot offers a ls6 crate engine for $5,295,I was thinking for just a little over a grand more I could get the hot cam equipped ls3.

you want the LS6 service engine - $3200 and an excellent replacement for the LS1.

This is the way to go and is a direct bolt in.

Keep in mind guys that the LS3 would need 2 harness extensions (cam and knock sensor) and a 58x to 24x conversion box from lingenfelter to even work with the existing ECM and harness in a 4th gen. Add it all up and the LS6 with a cam swap and LT's is a good match performance wise and a much easier/cheaper route.

02, I am thinking about doing the same swap that you are, for the following reasons. The swap was begun in the Feb 09 GM High-Tech Performance, pg 038, by Rick Jensen the ex editor of the magazine, and finished in the March 2009 issue. He had to purchase some items from Lingenfelter Performance, but over all the swap, the warranty and the performance makes for a good street performance and good times at the strip. The final rwhp 434 and rwtq 432. The total swap with everything $7,240.00. Labor not included. You figure $2000, so for $10,000 you can have a strong running, butt whupping car and not worry will it blow up the first time you run the H___ out of it.
