    Question Ls2 heads on LS1

    Hello all,

I have the opportunity to buy some LS2 heads.
I own a 1999 LS1 Camaro and wonder if this would do anything (good) for my engine?
    Any info/tips would be appreciated.

I live in the Netherlands, where LSX parts are not easy to come by for a nice price.

    Thanks!

Several things to keep in mind, Ls2 will raise your compression from 10.25:1 to 10.9:1 valve to piston clearance should be fine since they both have about the same cam. Both Ls1 and Ls2 have the same valve 2.00 intake and 1.55 exhaust not sure if the ls2 flow any better.

Also the Ls1 is a 3.9 Bore and the Ls2 is a 4.00 bore, so make sure you get head gasket for the heads other wise they wont seat correctly, so not sure if the benefits without other mods I would say no.

If they are a good deal, then I suppose buy them. They flow better than your 99's for sure. The LS2 heads have the same combustion chamber as the 243 casting number LS6 engine.
These heads should ether be 243 or 799 casting number correct? CHeck that. If your getting a steal on them, I dont see why not. A cam with the heads would be suburb!

The LS2 head gasket will work but will lower the compression alittle more. If you already have them, and dont feel like buying new gaskets, then use them.

The LS2 heads also have the upgraded LS6 Valvesprings and lighter hollow stem valves

    Correct, they are 243 casting.
Unfortunately, the passenger side one has been on fire ? :-(

Are LS2 heads better than LS6's?
And will they work with a LS6 cam? I understand the LS6 can is easier to put in an LS1 then a LS2, correct?

LS2 heads do not come hollow stem intake valves or the sodium filled exhaust valves
