    LS1 Swap Goals

Alright I have a 1970 Chevelle Malibu, I just bought a wrecked '99 Camaro z28 with a running LS1 and T56 transmission. I will be swapping these into my Chevelle. I plan on breaking the engine down all the way to the bare block and fixing it up from there. I have never worked on an LS1 engine before so i am very dumb to all the performance parts associated with it, my daily driver is an '08 Mustang GT and that's mainly what i have delt with so please don't mind my ignorance. My goals with the chevelle are to have street cruiser that will see the track a couple times a year, but mainly a cruiser. I am looking for 400rwhp. What would you reccomend on internals for the engine to achieve this goal?

I realize this is kind of an open ended question with many possible combinations, i really just want to hear peoples opinions and suggestions, so i can get an idea and start making a plan for my swap. Thanks in advace.

    I'd recomend
    High volume oil pump
    ARP head and rod bolts
    Chromoly pushrods
    Valve springs
    Ls6 intake
    And around a 228 cam

Depending on how much money you have to play with I'd add a good set of ported/milled heads.
    Sounds like a fun build!

Just got a deal on brand new never run ported LS6 heads with the yellow beehive springs for $700.

So here is what else i was thinking of: an LS6 Ported oil pump, LS2 timing chain, chromoly pushrods, yella terra 1.7 rockers, and a TSA torquer v.2 cam. Do these sound like they would work together?

Is there a need to change lifters as well? If so what kind? Thanks.

My engine has 168K miles on it, should i look into a rebuild kit like this one as well? http://www.summitracing.com/parts/FEM-BK6081000

the valve spring won't holdup to anything bigger than a GM hot, you'll need a set of comp 918s or PAC beehives.

With the mileage on the motor I'd drop a set of ls7 lifters in it (if you order ls1 lifters you will get the ls7s because the ls1 lifter was discontinued)
I'd keep and run the stock rockers.

Also while you have it out check your bearing for wear

go through the tranny even if it is just an inspection. but an ls7 clutch kit will be plenty or the power you want.

Agreed about the valve springs you def need soething stiffer with all of the above mods and 168k I think itd be safe atleast just to rering and replace the bearings in the motor shouldnt be breaking the bank expensive. With all that said and a v2 cam and heads should be right around 420ish at the wheels through an m6.... Well ovr your goal.
