    Ls1 oil pressure drops when pressing the throttle

    Hi, I have a 98 ws6, no mods done that i have noticed recently has the oil pressure drop when i accelerate after being warmed up. It does it while driving or sitting at idle. It used to increase when i throttled it, just started doing this about a month ago. Checked oil, it is full. Only other thing i noticed preceding this happening was a few months ago it started ticking slightly at startup. Like a sticky lifter in my old 305...Just slight and it goes away when warm. Other than that i noticed nothing different. Any thoughts on why this is occuring? Should i be concerned something is gonna go bad? Anything i can do to stave it off if it is a sign of bad to come?

    Oh yeah, has good oil pressure otherwise, just drops slightly when throttling it slow or fast doesn't matter...

    Typical sign of large bearing clearances. Initial drop because tolerances open up on acceleration then rises as oil pump speed increases with rpm....

    i have seen pressure drop due to a split in the o-ring that goes between the oil pump and pick up tube

    i notice I usually have to add half a court of oil when I see this happen. I will sometimes notice that my oil pressure will drop on acceleration because of lower oil levels. My Z28 did this as well as my SS does.

    My white one does this. When it's warm, at 2k RPMs cruisinig around 65mph on the highway, it'll sit at 40lbs maybe less. I can get off onto a main county road, and when on my initial deceleration, the pressure jumps up about 5-8lbs for a few seconds then goes back down. Oil is at the tip top of operating range as well Motor won't be ready till spring, don't wanna replace as of yet
