    Thats freaking awesome.

Where else can you get a H/C package, with all the components, for $1K??

And unlike racing oriented H/C packages, that would be perfect for a DD, no sacrifice in low end or fuel economy.

If you're looking for a nice streetable powergain without any sacrifices and without spending a ton of cash, I think thats a great deal. Nice find.

Whats the power difference between an LS1 and LS6? Is it a noticable increase? Sorry for the stupidity. I'm still new at the LSx game.

Also, if I went with the LS6 heads, how much more lift could the stock springs keep before they are maxxed out/valves hitting pistons?

    Thanks,

    Chris

ported LS6 w. ZO6 cam would be suhweet... even if they're DIY Home ported... better then cast
(& milled some up bump up the compression )

never ever have to change springs

plus some laughing gas for shits & giggles & you'll be spankin almost every other car on the road

    can we say z06 whaattt???

    i vote for it 100%
this is the route i would go if i wasnt knee deep in shit as it is

my ZO6 cam measured 205/219 close enough though...those heads are soo much nicer than the regular LS1 heads, even when compared to the 241 castings... the ports are milled better where the valve seats are, there is less casting flash and just an overall nicer product...nice how that kit comes with all the gaskets you need...you could do that project in a day or a nice weekend depending on experience level....i vote for it

Definitely. That package and the LS6 intake manifold are the only real power differences between the LS1 and the LS6.

So yes, you should be at 405HP at the crank after installing that package and the LS6 intake.

What Do You Think A Local Shop Would Charge To Do Something Like That?

    depends on their labor rate....

& weather or not they specialize in our cars... most shops familiar with our cars charge out about 12 hours for h/c swaps

    book time per...
    mitchell is 11 for heads & 14.7 for camshaft = 25.7 total
    alldata time shows 13.7 heads & 15.4 camshaft = 29.1 total

these times are OBVIOUSLY inflated but dont be surprized with crazy quotes you might get

ive done a cam only swap (already had heads & springs etc) in 2 hours flat so 14-15 hours book time is RIDICLIOUS

as i said.. reasonable is 10-15 hours depending on the shop

For the price, its not bad.

But we've had threads on this before. If you're going to put the time and money into it, you can get something bigger and better than the LS6 cam. Sure the LS6 intake manifold and ported LS6 heads work great. But I look at it this way, you might as well try and go with something better than something from the factory.

How many of you guys have done heads/cam swaps yourself??

And I'm not talking to the ASE guys who do it for a living (obviously they would), I'm talking about the backyard mechanic guys who work on cars as a hobby.

Not that the LS6 stuff isn't great but economically you could do a aftermarket Cam w/Headers and make more power than a LS6. and still use your LS1 intake and stock heads. There are plenty of DD friendly cams available.

I have to check this when I get home. Is it just one setup or is it a company?
