ls1 to ls2 or 243 heads??
Hi, I have a 1998 z28 camaro, auto, im from Guadalajara, Jalisco (tequilas land) jeje
Mods that i have are:
1. 373 gears
2. cam 222/224 Comp cams and valve springs
3. headers
4. 3000 stall
5. PCM repro by RED
6. LCAs and Relocation brackets
7. Stock heads
And my car is running 1/4 13.5 13.6 here in Guadalajara...
Im very confused now because a have 2 options:
1. I recently bought a 243 stock heads and i donk now if I should ported them? or let them stock
2. A friend has a C6 6.0L motor stock and he says me that is a very simple swap.. i was reading a lot of posts but im still confused? about reculator wheel or cam arness (something like that) jeje
3. what would you do? put the 243 ported heads or get them back and swap for a stock 6.0L? i appreciate all your help...

Stick with the 243's get them ported if you can its a good upgrade from stock 98 heads.

Is it a difficult swap of the 853's to the 243's? I am thinking of buying a set of stock 243's just to build them up but I wanted to know if they will just bolt on or will it take some modifying? And if I get a set of LT's for my 2000 WS6 will they bolt on the 243's without a problem?

The 243s will bolt right on, same bolt pattern for the block, intake, exhaust and accessories, but you will need the center bolt valve covers and coil brackets.
I'd at the least get alittle milled off the 243s to bump your compression up some, and personaly I'd get them ported too to get the most out f the swap.
If swapping an ls2 into an ls1 car you need to get a conversion box sp your computer can read the 58x reluctor, and the cam sensor is in the front timing cover so you need to cut and lenghten the sensor wires.

I was planning on getting them ported a putting oversized valves and roller rockers if I can. I am new to the LS1 so I am still learning what I can and can't do. I was debating on weather I should just find another set of 853's to just rebuild or going with the 243's. In your opinion is it worth the hastle of getting different valve covers and coil brackets? I know they are not that expensive but I am not sure what the gains would be for each set of heads.

Save some money and keep the stock rockers, just get the Harlin Sharp rebuild kit for the stock ones. I'd go for the 243s over the 853s

The centerbolt valve covers would be easy to get but for the coil pack brackets could I just use stock ones off of an 01 or 02 LS1 with the 243's? or is there somewhere else to get them?

The LS2 swap isnt that bad. I did it in my 01 SS just make sure you get the 24x reluctor wheel and tap a new whole for the cam senor.
