    Junkyard heads

are there any heads that can bolt straight onto our LS1's for cheap.. I dont want to put in a cam right now but i am looking into heads..maybe some 243's or 5.3's......can 5.3 truck heads work and off wat year?/whats the casting #? how much milling needs to be done/porting?

    My car is a DD 2000 T/A ws6 m6 with 43000 miles ..lid and smooth bellows/catback exhaust...PP TB

Im looking to get 380rwhp I will be buying headers soon and an LS6 intake

Your best bet will be 243's. They'll be the most quick purchase and bolt on HP.....but if you're willing to put a lil effort into 5.3's, they're a GREAT budget head.

If you're going to be installing heads and an intake, it'd be kinda crazy not to do a cam. You can find cams all over the internet for $200 or so.

I see where the op is coming from though it's not just $200, you need the timing chain, oil pump, pushrods, valvesprings that's an easy $400 extra for used parts.

Op due to my budget I will be doing a head swap only soon in the near future if you check my latest thread. If your doing head only the cheapest would be some used 5.3's, you can pick up some 243's for 500-600 all day but that's stock on 15-20rwhp. You can pick up some worked 5.3's for 800-900. If the guy I bought them from gives me my damn heads I can hopefully have this situated by the end of the month, we'll see what this bolt-on auto put's down.

Are you trying to keep it smog legal... I was told if using the 5.3's and bumping up compression you may run into problems, especially if camming... Just thot i'd add that in seeing your from CA.
