Internal Engine Problems?
I have a problem I'm wondering if someone can help me with. I started to notice ever time I start my 2001 WS6 up in the morning, there is a little puff of white smoke. Then I started noticing when i jump on the throttle hard, black smoke pours out the back in low gears (1st and 2nd). It also backfires between 2nd and 3rd, and sometimes between 3rd and 4th. Then on a road trip from Daytona Beach to Atlanta, after steady driving for 4 hours, the car started to act as if a couple of cylinders went out. It continued to act this way for about 30 miles but if I step on the throttle and accelerated, it stopped and acted normal. When I tried to cruise, it statred to sputter again, but after you hit the throttle, it goes right back to normal. Has anyone had this combination of problems? If so, what is the remedy short of a complete rebuild?
Maybe some of the mods are the problem, but its not highly modified , here's whats done to it:
It has 1 5/8" headers, no cat, 3" borla exaust, Gen II FIPK K&N filter system, a (Gorilla Chipz) chip, throttle body spacer.Last edited by Pappa Doo; 08-12-2007 at 08:42 AM. Reason: ran a sentence twice.

How many miles on the car? A single white puff is nothing to worry about especially on startup after sitting all night. Black smoke is fuel related and my guess would be a misfire somewhere.

Internal engine problems
there are 80,655 miles on the car. I just bought it Sept 2006 and hadn't had it tuned up yet, maybe thats the problem.

Yep sounds about right. They say the plugs will last 100K miles with an asterick next to it with a disclaimer reading under "normal" driving conditions. Haven't seen that happen yet. Then again what's normal for an Fbod is probably extreme for regular cars.
