i need heads
I need a set of heads and am not sure what i need. I've got a 383 short block the cam is a .556/.556 and 228/238. got headers would like to stay with an ls6 64 cc head. I've looked at everything from A.F.R s to patriots. I'm hoping to pile lots of miles on it as its my DD. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I would look into a set of PRC heads, They are really the best bang for the buck you will ever find, I Can tell you who sells them if you do not know, Not sure about rules and sponsors so I wont post the company but they only deal with LS engines.

a 383 would bennifit from a set of 215 Trick flows, you could go with 225 if its a FI motor.
AFR 205's would work well too , but i would mostlikley go with the TFP 215's

Na those are good heads, but might as well go with teh AFR's 215's They would be perfect , that 383 would be a torque monster

TFS 220 cast heads for $200 more than PRC stage 2 ls6 heads.

will the afr 215 work with a 3.905" bore? Also the prc has a single intake/exhaust 1 pc valve seat so do you think that would work for a DD? Does any one run the TFs and if so have they piled many miles on them? I'm going N/A but may spray a lil later.

go to
go to AFR website for more info .I don't hear any durability problems when it comes to PRC heads, talk to the guys at TSP. TFS have a small port alingment problem when using a fast intake ,but the intake can be shimmed up easily to work with the fast.

blacker than wesleysnipes- 98' trans am
x2 i see your point ...
i am leaning more and more to AFR heads ...especially for a torque monster like the 383...the AFRs wont give you as high as the large port 215s from TFS or ETP...but they get close..and their low to mid range power is orgasmic..they have great velocity and are really good to go with..however with your specs i am not sure if the 205s would be optimal ..for a n/a 346 yes 205s are the cats meow...id call up AFR and ask ...you get a custom ported fast intake with custom ported and polished AFR 205 or 215s you will be happy.

AFR makes a 215 now , its a monster flowing head , check out the exhaust flow #'s it flowes better than there 225 head,
If i lift a head or blow a head gasket ill take my ported 241's off and go aftermarket with the AFR 215's , the 3/4" thick deck is a big + too for boosted engines . The extra meat helps keep them from distoration and lifting.
IMOP those are the best choise overall
