Hotter or Colder T-Stat ??
The car I just got has a 160 degree Thermostat...
and the fans are set to come on at 170 or 175...
The never reaches The Halfway Mark (185) between 160 and 210
It gets halfway between 160 and 185.
Is this bad?
Use more gas?
Faster? Slower?
Thanks Guys.

Well it would depend on how the car was tuned, if at all. When you put a 160 degree thermostat in the computer thinks the car is colder than it is and keeps putting the fuel to it trying to get it at the operating temp. There will be guys that debate this to death but the advantages of a cooler running car are having the ability to add some fuel, timing to the mix and make more power..... With heat you get the possibility of detonation in the motor.....a 160 just opens up sooner and keeps the car cooler......if you go in a program the car to respond to this then yes you could get a little more power out of the motor......
