    Holy Mess!

I just started tearing down my LS1 this week. I found one HELL of a mess.

    Coolant in Baffle.jpg
First, I found coolant nearly coming out of my lid.

This is kind of looking into my intake

    Looking into the intake, closer

    Oil from Intake.jpg
This is what came out of the intake ... yuck, oil and coolant cocktail

    Broken Pieces.jpg
This is what I dug out of the oil/coolant cocktail ... I had a chunk of piston (with a ring still attached), #3 exhuast valve & bent stem and a few different rings.

PART 2 ---> The Driver's Side Cylinder Head

#3 Exhaust rocker arm failed. It spit little needle bearings everywhere, shot out both sides of the rocker arm and ate up my valve spring.

I have more pictures but for some reason, it won't let me upload them

Needless to say, I'm pretty interested to see how the cylinder held up, if at all.

Damn, that's some awesome carnage....I recommend the Trunion Upgrade on those rockers when you start putting everything together.

I don't know where it started, I'm assuming the piston wobbled apart due to timing issues (/bad tune), made its way up into the head, did some work up there and finished in the intake. So far, it doesn't look like much is salvagable. Luckily, im doing a swap instead of rebuild. I still want to see the inside of the block and see if the cylinder, crank and rods are still there but I was definitely surprised when I found all that in my intake. Haha
