    Help - Valve Spring Install

First cam install. Learning a lot, but didn't expect to have problems with valve spring install. It's a Texas Speed cam kit ( TSP .660" Dual Spring Kit w/ Integrated One-Piece Seat & Seal, Titanium Retainers, PAC Springs #199-ISSPACPOL660SpringKit). I am using the Comp Cams LSx Valve Spring Compressor Tool. No matter how many times I try the springs do not compress straight. They compress more on the outboard side of the head resulting in the valve stem being offset in the retainer. This is preventing me from being able to install the keepers.

    Thanks in advance for helping!

I used a pry bar (very little force) between the head and the tool and was able to align things enough to get the keepers in.

    Repeat seven times

Seems like the Comp Cams tool isn't designed properly. Anyone else have this issue?

Good to know. The only valve spring compressor I have is the external C-clamp style so the heads have to be off the car to use it. The LS1 style compressors are a bit pricey and at some point I will probably have to invest in one. Will definitely go with another brand since you are having issues.

Worked for the first pair. Have not been able to get a second set of springs in.

Anybody recommend an on engine spring compressor for LS1?

Under the "Tools" section I've posted a review of both the Comp Cams LSx valve spring compressor and the TrickFlow valve spring compressor.
