Heads, compression, milling, where to find.
I've done a bit of research and it seems like the original Trick Flow heads (not the "fast as cast") are probably the way to go for me.....I need a motor that pulls hard at 3K RPM not just at 6.5K
Anyway, 91 Octane is the best that is available locally, and we are basically at sea level to sea level +500' around here.
So my question is, how much compression do I want to run and how much would I have to mill those heads to get there?
Second question obviously, where is a good place to pick up a custom milled set of TFS heads....does anyone know if Vengence racing will put together a package and do the milling? (I'll be calling them shortly) but I'm always looking for better/cheaper options.

If your looking for more low end you will want to get a smaller runner that has extremely good velocity over a set with larger ports and shoot for right at 11:1 compression with an average size cam (224-230 duration).
I am running a set of ported and .040" milled 241's that I did myself and they give me great throttle response and low end grunt even with my 238/242 .595/.595 112lsa cam.
I'm still running these heads on my 408 stroker and it pulls hard as hell to 7,000 rpms... I know I need a larger set to support the larger cubes, but these get the job done for now and were the stock heads that came on the car.
I run 93 when I can, but mostly run 92 octane and hitting 27 degrees of advance at wide open throttle with no knock at all
