Heads on a 98 ls1
This winter I want to do some upgrades on the motor. Better intake with larger TB, new push rods, better Cam... As far as the heads I was told to get newer better heads, but I was wondering if I an do just as good by porting and polishing the heads of the 98? Maybe shave them down a bit? Any info would be great.

83 Z28 new project- 98 Formula WS7-sold:(
The biggest difference in the 98 heads to the newer heads is that the 98 heads are perimeter bolt valve covers and the newer ones are centerbolt. Performance wise, there is really not a noticeable difference. If you go newer, you need to get the newer valve covers and coil brackets. I just stuck with my older ones, port, polish and bigger valves, and I like them a lot.
