Head question
Is a set of 2000 5.3 heads worth using on a 6.0? I have a set off of a truck, I was going to do a little port work, unshroud the valves and install 2.00 intakes. The 5.3's will also bring the comp up, correct? It's going to have headers and cam and lifters. Haven't chose what cam yet. I'd like a set of 243's but if I didn't come up with a set I'd have a back up plan.

317s won't boost compression they will lower it via larger compression chambers which is why FI guys love them.

Think I'll go with the 5.3 heads for now. Some clean up and bowl work along with 2 in valves they ought to perform alright. My main interest right now is to get it going, later I'll pull it and go through it. That way I can find better heads and some other stuff while I'm driving it.

The 5.3s will raise your compression more than a standard 853/241 setup. The 317 as cast stock would do you a disservice as an NA car as it would lower your compression alot. I have a set of 243s available if you want to give yourself the best flow for your buck with good combustion chamber size.
