    head question

I have a chance of getting 244 casting heads for my 2002 camaro SS and was wondering if they are worth the change. If so does anyone know what kind of power I can expect from them. They are stock 244 heads. Also is there anything I should do to them before I bolt them on? any help would be appreciated

Do you mean 243? The only info I found on 244s were ford/volvo heads. But if they are good heads I would get a port job at the very least on them along with replacing the valve springs and other things.

Yea its worth it man. But I'd definitely get a port job to get the full benefits. You would probably gain somewhere between 30-50 horsepower maybe more.

243 heads are stock LS6 heads. Your 2002 Camaro SS "may" have those already on it. Some 2002's have LS6 motors. Otherwise you have stock LS1 241 heads. So to swap to 243's stock would be a very slight improvement. Not worth the hassle really. But like 98TransAmWs-6 said...getting them ported and polished and maybe having a valve job done would really make a difference at that point. So buy the heads cheap then put some $$$ into doing 'em up good.

    Seriously?

While some LS6 blocks were used to make LS1 engines (only difference is the LS6 is a "window design" and they used them as they ran out of LS1 blocks) no Camaro came equipped with an LS6 engine from the factory.

If his car is unmodded and not a tuner car (GMMG, Earnhardt etc) then I have no doubt it has 241 heads on it.

Yeah I definitely have 241 heads I can get a set for around 400 bucks but was not sure if It was worth it just the way they were to bolt them right on or not
