Has anybody tried the new edelbrock cam for ls1? It says 433 HP and 421 TQ with no need for tune.Just wondering if it really performs?

Do you have the specs for the cam? I wouldn't rely on those advertising claims at all! Even if it is a monster cam that makes good power, you would still likely only be around 410 - 420 rwhp WITH a good tune and bolt ons.

While I feel like you should update your tune with almost any cam swap, most of the smaller cams that you could run (and get away with not updating the tune) should make modest power and would likely put you in the 380 rwhp range if you have all of the supporting bolts ons (not including heads and intake).

Of the edelbrock site the part number is 2218.
Duration at .05 207I/220E.
Lobe seperation 118 degrees.
Lift at valve .573I / .580E
Lift at cam .337I / .341E

they tested it on a 2001 ls6 engine, so that might be why the numbers are slightly higher

While there are a lot of factors that go into deriving power numbers from a cam profile, just based on the info provided above, that cam is a relatively mild cam. 433 rwhp and 421 tq are not even close to being attainable with that cam on a stock motor. Slap on full bolt-ons, heads and a FAST intake and you should be in the ballpark, however there are plenty of other proven performers that could get you there, and even further, when you have the supporting mods.

If its at the fly, I don't think the numbers are too exaggerated. If they started with 385hp, it gained 48hp granted they probably dyno'd it with headers. I think it sounds believable

Your gonna def, need a larger cam than that to reach those numbers they advertise. Hell, I needed a 230+ duration to hit over 420 rwhp. Those have to be numbers at the flywheel.
