good head cam combo for 40-60 HP?

Is there a decent head and cam combo that will produce decent numbers without sacrificing streetability. Also one that will work well with a stock converter

Why stock converter?......there are converters out there that are pretty tight & you won't loose much gas milage or any driveability!!!........, with that being said, w/a stock converter the TX SPEED 220r on 114 & PRC 5.3 heads will get you tha 40+ hp & still be drivable.

    Stock converter is the problem.

there is no need to get an h/c pkg if you are not going to complement it with a stall . depending on which cam you select ,just about every vendor will recommend that you have at least a 3000 or higher converter.

ok well im a little confused on stall converters. A 3400 means i have to get my rpms up to 3400 before the car even starts to move right? And once im moving i read that they lock up at 45 so then it will shift and i can cruise at low rpms like normal?

Stock stalls are 1800, but you don't have to get the car up to 1800rpm from a dead stop to move. You won't be puttin around at 3400rpm around town, it will go up but not that high. Lock up is tuned you can get them to lock up lower than 45mph.

converters are rated for the rpm they can potential flash to when you mash the gas.

picking up 40 rwhp should be pretty easy with a cam only too. I picked up ~90 rwhp on patriot 243 heads and a 228-232 cam. (on a stock stall as well, it does want to pull thru the brakes at stops though. I have a 3600k yank ss, just haven't gotten it installed yet).
