I need some help i have a 2000 camaro z28 but i have crazy mils and im starting to get some tiking from my heads now this car is 100% oem. SO i got a used LS1 block and i want to build somthing with some power but i dont really know what to go with i was thinking 383 forged kit but pepol are telling me ooooo no go bigger im kinda in a dilemma cuz i want good power but reliabol . so if some one can help me out that would be cool and if you know wear i can get a good price on parts that would be even nicer thaks

wrist pins are usually an issue with 383 ls1s. most go with the 6.0 lq9 iron block because they can go to the low 400s cubic inch es reliably and similar in price if not cheaper. that is assuming you want a stroker. if youre not deadset on a stroker than go mild head/cam setup for mid 400hp to the ground. be sure you get the proper supporting and drivetrain mods.

if you have to just go with head/cam setup with the ls1.it will be plenty reliable. im sure you can get the 383 to be reliable assuming you can have it done properly but you will need to find a quality builder. but just because there are alot of performance shops around you doesn't necessarily make them a quality shop. not to mention it won't be cheap like a head/cam build. getting into the machining of an aluminum block is always pricey. do your research on the shops around you to begin with.
