If your burning oil that means you have valve seal/ring pack issues and no motor oil is going to help that.....AUTORX that thing first.....follow the instructions to the letter.

I am always on the look out for snake oils and ridiculous lube "claims".....25K miles on one oil change my ass
Yes AutoRx is the real deal and does exactly what it says it will do. I have had all my cars on the maintenance dose for years now and the wear metals are low as any I have ever seen.....

ridiculous-claim-making-snake-oil-company
It doesnt' take long for true snake oils to gain a bad reputation among educated consumers and generally they don't last long. Amsoil's 25,000-mile/one year oil change interval has been warranted by Amsoil for 38-years and is proven successful by Used Oil Analysis results. Granted it's not for everyone but completely doable in some applications.
If Amsoil's oil change recommendation was in the same category as a ridiculous-claim-making-snake-oil-company, one of two things would have happened long ago, One - the company would have gone bust replacing peoples engines, and or Two, they would have retracted their oil change recommendation. Neither have happened making Amsoil one of the most respected and controversial synthetic oil blenders in the United States today. Snake oil it is not.

Engine oils?
I don't doubt Amsoil offers protection for 1 year
But that's not why I change my oil
I change my oil to get rid of the dirt and debris that enters the intake system can damage bearings and scar the sides of cylinder bores or otherwise cause premature wear.
and no oil can protect you from this, only regular oil changes at 3k-5k and a good air filter can prevent this from occurring

The right application
Sure! That's why you have to keep the oil clean. With traditional paper cellulose oil and air filters you won't be able to keep the oil clean for an extended oil change interval. You have to have the right filters for the right application.

i wonder if theres any "real" differences in oils. if you changed the oil every 3-5k and didnt put them under any extreme conditions would there be much difference between amsoil ("the best") and just a regular cheep dino blend.

do a search on german castrol syntec 0w30 on google. the oil analysis tests and comparisons done with it in an ls1 show all you'll need to know. well worth the trouble of finding it. most autozones and strauss's carry it.
