    Cylinder-Head-and-Cam Package, 1999-05 402 CID LS1 600 HP

Someone seriously needs to buy this package and write a review before I decide to pull the trigger! Anyone thought about ordering one of these? They're only $2,955.

The HP estimates seem pretty high on these compared to what others have reported with their head/cam combo. What do you guys think?

It is what SLP claims....flywheel numbers. Even then....

They are bogus. That is what SLP does.

Oh...and that is just for the heads and cam, not for the entire 402ci.

HOLY INFLATING NUMBERS BATMAN!!! Yeah The is in order. but yes looks like SLP is guessing at flywheel HP ratings.

hell if you allready have a 402, then I would go with LS7 heads (flow over 330 CFM @.600 lift, from the factory) and a nice healthy cam. And with a stage 2 or 3 port on them hmmmm, who knows what they will flow.

For that price you could go with Trickflow's Heads and cam. It's 3100$. I have their H/C/I on my 95 mustang Gt and it really woke the car up. They make really good products that last. Check it out

You are thinking of L92 heads. Not ls7. You must have a minimum of 4.10 bore to run ls7 heads.

BTW I would not call those ratings too optimistic on a 402. Matter of fact I would say the 525 one is a little low. That package with the rest of the bolt-ons should see almost 500 rwhp.

Maybe its with full boltons and supporting mods as well that it would produce that much horsepower.

Doesn't mention it in the advertisement, and even with full bolt-ons, I don't see it.

Maybe those numbers are a little inflated but not much. 525 at the crank is has to be less then 450rwhp. Those are AFR heads and I don't see why with full bolt ons you wouldn't be in the ballpark of those numbers. Still I think you can do better for 3k.

okay now help me out l92 heads are what I want if i plan on building a 427? or I want the ls7 heads? and the ls1 can only be bored over by .030 making it a 355 with out the 4" stroke crank so does that equall the minimum boee 0f 4.10 for the ls7 heads?

I would only go .010" over on the stock LS1 block.

And no, you wouldn't be looking at 4.100" bore.
The stock LS1 bore is 3.898".
