Camshaft and Crankshaft dots
I am trying to reinstall timing cover on my LT1.
I have tried twice and this is my last try. I have my Crankshaft at 12o'clock and my Camshaft at 6o'clock.
I put Piston 1 at TDC to my knowledge. Peeped through spark hole with video camera and saw the compression stroke and the rise.
My problem is that my haynes book shows pics of dots at these 2 locations 6 and 12. with Cam dowel at 3o'clock.
My "How to rebuild Small Engine blocks" book, says 12 o'clock for both dots. with Cam Dowel at 9 instead of at 3o'clock.
Which is right?,

You can put them in either way, cam strait up or strait down.....I don't know how lt1s get there timing signals, but if you have a distributor that can go in 0, or 180 degress out you might hace to try it twice
