    Best Heads and Cam package?????

I am looking for the best h/c package and still keep the car a daily driver. Currently have CAI, LT, off road y-pipe and HPP tuner. After the h/c will put a 100hp shot of the juice on the car.

im running Patriot Stage II Ls6 "Style" heads 59cc (2.02"int/1.57"ext) and a little Comp Cam 224/224 .581/.581 @112lsa...numbers are in my sig

how i got there...i had an Ls6 intake on my car and went FAST 90/90, ported and did more porting myself. i would suggest selling off your Ls6 intake and going FAST 90/90 w/ a H/C setup...

other will tell you to go AFR (is a $1000 more worth 5rwhp...?) and a big cam like a MS4 or T-Rex...

not knowing what your goals are its hard to suggest, so i tossed to you what i did for my goal which was to have a strong street car. i dont really car about 1/4mi times...

I was looking for about 400 rwhp, but dirveable. Thunder Racing has a package that says 394rwhp with stock exhaust. They want 2500.00. I can get a TR 220/220 cam for 150.00 with 2K on it. How does 400 feel? I have the T56 and was thinking about sending it to sixspeedsinc for some work like a SPEC stage 2+ clutch...... Does your stock rear end hold up? Thank you for the help and the #'s.

Not to thread jack but I have the same question. I have been looking at the patriot heads. I was wondering why you went with the stage 2 over stage 3. or what the advantage of going one over the other would be.

Stage III heads are for enigines that have a larger C.I.D...like a 402/408, etc...

the Stage II heads are already 6.0L castings...(better fit for an Ls1 or Ls2 engine). also for my particular application and for how i wanted to build my car, the Stage III heads were just to excessive for my needs. rememember these are the Ls6 "Style" heads not their P&P Ls6 heads. Here's the link for the heads that I have...

    http://www.patriot-performance.com/w...05234&DID=1225

as you can see, unless you are going to a larger bore (stroked or larger CID engine), the Stage II heads will get the job done nicely. however, i would suggest calling Patriot and talking to Gunnar directly about the particular setup that you are wanting to do. he would have the best answer for you, and your application...

what are the complete specs for that 220/220...? personally i think that would be too small for you even for the price and not really help you reach that 400rwhp goal.

prior to me being at my current 444/395, i was sitting at 409/386. this was with heads/cam, LT's/ory, Ls6 intake, lid, SLP LM catback, HP Tune...

i took off that Ls6 intake for a ported FAST 90/90 and gained 35rwhp/10rwtq. yes i know alot has to do with the tune, but untuned the first run put down 432/399. my tuner was able to squeeze out 12 more rwhp...

i do have a 6spd, and so far with 315/35/17 Nitto DR's the stock rear (3.42 gears) is holding, so is the factory clutch, etc. my car is not a DD, and only has 42k on the clock. for how long my 10 blot will last is anyones guess. they can crap out with a completely stock car, or in ED Blown Vert's case, his 10-bolt was getting by with having around 700rwhp going through it...

here are a couple of threads i did in regards to the FAST 90/90...

If your going with nitrous I would go ms3 and stage 2.5 heads from texas speed, my first time at the track with drag radials and stock suspension I went 10.84 @ 126 with a 150 shot. The heads and cam package was $1600 back around christmas. Made 560 hp at the wheels on 150 shot.

What is an MS stage 3 and stage 2.5 heads from Texas speed. I paid around 2500 with new push rods and bolts for the heads.

Naw if you want a good running daily driver you would be happier with a Torquer V2 on a 112 and a set of Stage 1 PRC LS6 Heads.

Best and TSP should not be used in the same sentence. Unless it is "TSP is not the best".

Best combo is relative to budget. Identify the budget you have, then identify the parts you have to have(supporting parts ie: oil pump, timing chain, pushrods, etc) subtract $400 for the cam from the budget and then the rest is what you have to spend on heads. Sub $2k I would go with Darts, over $2K if money is an issue at all I would use the AFR 205 heads. If not, go with the ET 215's.

Back when I ran a TV2 with the Stage1 LS6 heads the car was alot more friendly on the street and would run low 12s/high 11s at the track. Its one of best street combos I've ever ran. So I spoke from experince not some bullshit made up to impress somebody I don't know.

I went with the thunder racing because it has been dyno'ed and "proven". They say it will be very driveable and hard to tell the difference form stock unless you are eating snake for dinner. The Chtr cam and AFR head will produce Approx 394 RWHP. I already have a CAI, Kook LT, ORY and Borla cat back. SFC and strut tower brace. I just want a driver that can hand most vettes their a!!.

Disagree completely. TSP are the best budget heads out there right now. Agree with the AFRs/ETPs tho.
