    You will get different answers.

I personally went with the LQ9 block for my 402. A little heavy, but it was cheaper and iron is stronger. But of course, you need a LOT of power for that to matter.

The LS2 block is a good starting point for sure!!!

    all bore 370 Trans Am

Im with luos. I also went with an iron block. i was a bit cheaper and went with a stock crank though, but same bore 370. A lot of people will say aluminum because its lighter and has handled high amounts of power and boost, but their sleeves are known to have issues. You dont see as many or any of those issues with iron blocks. Iron blocks are built for better tolerances, with that comes better life, oil comsumption and constant performance.

You don't need a iron block unless your looking for 1000+ hp. I have made 815 rwhp with a turbo'ed 347 stock LS1 aluminum block!
He has the 402 LS2 shortblock forsale at $4400... Did you need heads also?

I would have to say from being new on here, and getting some great feedback. I am defin going with the LS2. I know Bob at Exotic talking to him today, and taking the time out has guided my mind towards a good direction. Also would like to thank you Dave! Let my bank account deprive for a higher satndard, No! (Higher Horse Power)
