before a bearing failure are there any signs
I reading here that crank bearing failure is common on the LS1 if it happens then the engine seizes ruining the block right?
before a bearing failure are there any signs like will the engine make noises like giving you clues that a bearing is loose and is about to fail?
Thanks

An oil analysis will show you precisely what is going on to the detail and remove any and all doubt.

Bearing failures are not "common" at all. Bearing failures due excessive oil change intervals, wrong viscosity causing bearing failure are much more common. The LSX bearing/crank design is excellent.

Id say low oil pressure would be a good first sign. When bearings start to wear down they act as a new pathway for oil to travel. Thats when the good ol "spun bearing" comes into play.

noise
OK so the noise I've been hearing for a few years must be something other than a crank related noise?
I usalley change my oil at 3K even tho it's designed to last longer when it gets to 3K I'm usalley down by 1.5 quarts anyway.
During cam swap I swaped the oil pump with a GM LS6 pump
? how many miles are they good for?
? when a oil pump goe's south is it gradeuale (like giving signs, noises ect.)
I'm assuming the preasure drops but do'es it stay low for a while.
The oil analysis sounds interesting.
Thanks

is the noise only at start up? maybe some light piston slap till it gets warm. both my dads 6.0s do that. the low oil psi is a good sign too. whats ur psi at cold idle, and then at hot idle? and the oil analysis is the way to go. i maintain a fleet of around 80 trucks. and every oil change we send the oil out to be tested. and they send you back a sweet chart of every thnig they found in the oil and how much of it, also it compares it to the previous oil sample they had.
