Bad lifter
Does this lifter's damage look like it might have wiped out the cam lobe?

I would for sure take that cam out and at least look at it. Why is the cam not out already? You have the lifter in your hand, isnt that much more work to just pull a cam.

I have to pull the head to get the broken manifold bolts out. I had a tapping from somewhere and just took a look and noticed this. Maybe when I pull the head I can check the cam.

I have no idea. It would make a tap when the engine got hot sometimes. I don't know what could do that.
