Fortunately, I have not had to either! There are some great LS books out there, I purchased two right after we bought our car -- check Amazon.com.

I bought 1 but 1st thing I saw was a right up on how there was a typo in the book on torque specs, Who can you trust if you cant trust books? Have you seen any gm books yet?

I have the factory service manuals for our car. Picked up the set new in the wrapper at a swap meet for $100.

a good machine shop with LS experance will know what there doing , dont forget to install the bar bell (oil restrictor) or you will end up having low oil pressure.
Red lock tight all bolts that only get 10-20 TQ , cam sprocket bolts oil pick up tube,
oil pump, they say blue , but i like red.

Aw come on man you can do this not rocket science. First off if you use ARP hardware it comes with the specs. Is the crank set I cant tell from the pics?

I can guide you if you need help. First thing you need to do is get that baby spottless give it a bath in acetone or mineral spirits. Are you down for this?

all bolts are torque to yeld so ur gonna need new head bolts and main bolts. i re use everything else on mine. a 220-224 would be a good cam choice. i had a 5.3 with shaved 243 heads, 224/228 .581/.588 cam and a fast 90. made 351 through an unlocked auto. what kind of tranny you plan on running?
