99'-00' LQ4 iron heads
I did a search on this forum but could not find any info on the heads.
There is no tabs on the corners like the aluminum couterparts. So my question is what series are these heads and what cc are? Are the heads basicly just paper wieghts and totaly worthless?

I am buy no means an expert, but arn't those installed on truck engines? If so they would be mostly used for more of a torque application rather than for performance. I am sure someone will chime in however, that knows more than I do.

Yes, I bought a 99'-00' lq4 6.0L. Was told it came out of a 2500HD manual. I was just curious about these pieces.

Block would be a great platform to build a high performance eng. Most high hp applications use an iron block like you have, However, you will need new heads, cam, intake to make it worth while. I am not sure of the compression ratio of that engine, but you might need new pistons as well.
If you were to change all that stuff, You could easily have over a 500hp motor. But the way it sets now, It was designed primarily for low end torque and hauling stuff so it would need some work to make it a beast.

The heads are no different then an LS1 head except the larger Chamber and their made of Iron. Compression should be between 9.5 and 10 to 1 on that engine.

So you guys think that the heads even though iron, have the same 71.06cc as the aluminum couter parts. I was just wondering about these heads, to find out out if there was market to sell to. I hate having parts taking up space if not for future use.
