98 Z28 advise wanted

Hello all,
I just bought a 98 Camaro Z28 only 56k miles. Thought I got a good deal until 2 days after I brought it home I heard some deep knocking and clattering noises from the engine. From what I have read on different forums and heard from friends it sounds like a spun bearing. I would like your opinion on what my next step should be. Here is how I see my option.

Tear into it myself. I'm mechanically inclined but never went that deep.

Pay someone else to tear into it. I'm in the Army so money is limited.

Sell it and cut my losses. Not sure what I might expect to get out of it.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

First off, sorry to hear that. I would probably tear into it myself, I am the same way as you though. Know some but never tore into a motor before. It would be fun and good learning experience though. Hope you get it back on the road.

Thanks for your sympathy. Not sure if I have the time or facilities for the rebuild project. I'll keep you posted on what I decide.
