806 is the casting # of the heads . Its on the front corner . 806 is the worse flowing LS1 head and has perimeter valve cover bolts .They came stock on the 98-99 F bodys . 241's are a little better . I believe they came on 00-02 . 243's are the best of the 3 . 243's in stock , untouched form will add @ 20-25 RWHP over 806's and 241's.

    Sadly now demodded :(

Actually 806 perimeter bolt heads were only used in 1998 on F-bodies. 241's are the center bolt heads for LS1's. 243's are center bolt and were used on the Vette LS6 engine (along with a different cam).

I see.......thanks. So even though these 806 are ported, they are not better than stock heads on a 2002 ls1?

The best place for 806 heads is a scrap yard. Save the money towards 243s. However, with a stock cam , it won't add 25hp.

    You guys are misinformed.
The 806 heads are `97-98 model year specific but are not as bad as people say. In fact the biggest difference is the perimeter bolt valve covers. They were cast differently then the later heads but still have the same port and chamber volume as any other LS1 head. And if there are any flow differences in stock form you would never feel it.
Also any ported head including the 806's is still better then stock.

    BTW
    `97-98 heads = 806
    `99-00 heads = 853 *
    `01-02 heads = 241

    * some 241's may be found on late production `00 cars

So 806 (PORTED) will flow better than stock?? Hmm......good to know. 150$ sound like a good deal on some 806 ported heads?

Yes any ported heads are better then any stock head.
The problem lies in that you have to get perimeter bolt valve covers (which will be an added expense) too use them. Also the Coils mount directly to those valve covers (no coil brackets required).
