799 and 243
I'm looking at a set of heads, the guy said they both came off the same 07 LS motor. One has a 243 casting # and one has a 799 casting #. He says to make him a resonable off and they are mine. Anyone know why these would have a different casting number?

Just a later year, the 799 don't have the sodium filled valves. 243's go for $400-$600

If he literally has a 799 on the left and a 243 on the right, I don't blame you at all.

Not all 243 heads have the sodium valves. If you're that interested in them do some research. I know the 799 and 243 are very similar, both came on the 5.3 and LS2. The 243 also came on LS2 and LS6. The LS6 is the only 243 casting that had the sodium filled valves.

I read somewhere that the 799 was casted in Mexico. I don't know where the 243 was casted. If they both have same size valves, I'd do it and clean up the castings on both heads.
