5w30 or 10w30?
I know the dealer recomends 5w30 oil but i recently switched from 10w30 to 5w30 and noticed alot more lifter noise. so i was wondering what you guys run and with what results. Is it ok to run 10w30. i just dont like all the lifter noise.

Well I believe 10w30 becomes lighter as it gets hot. For me I went from the factory recommended 10w30 down to 5w30. Not an ls1 but the results are good. I did'nt get the lifter noise but I did get a noticablely lower operating temp. My gas mileage improved to about 1.5-2 mpg.. Lifter noise may go away over time and continued use depending on the mileage of the engine. Many folks use a 0wXX with good results. You may want to do a UAO and see which is best for yours..

Penzoil Platinum 5W-30 Synthetic. I have the usual start up noise and then she quiets down after a little heat builds in the engine.
