You would be able to fix up an LS1 for alot cheaper than an LS7 and get more HP out of it.

i was hoping for a 427 but since you put it that way..... can i get a 396? i'm looking for a known displacment motor like 350 but not a 350 but a 396 or 383 would work and save me money

You can get a 383 a 402 a 408 maybe even a 427 small block. I have a stock size LS1 with just over 410 rwhp and I only have a small cam. With a bigger cam I could certainly pull another 45-50 rwhp. You don't always need big cubes.

A LS7 costs about $15K. You should be able to build a short block 402 for about $10K. It will be alot easier to do the 402 than an LS7.
