243 heads.
Is 400$ a good price on a set of used #243 heads? They came off a LS2 GTO with 38k on the clock.
Also are the 243 heads off a 5.3 the same as the 6.0?
And lastly should i buy them this weekend?

$400 is a good price! As far as them being the same as the newer ones coming off of 5.3's im not sure. Yes they will probably be gone before you know it.

to be honest it doesn't matter what engine the heads came off of 243's are 243's..The LS6 243 heads have the lighter sodium filled valves and the stronger yellow valve springs,,other than that they all supposedly have the same combustion chambers and flow.
hope I have helped.

bought the heads today. talked him down to 350, came with valve covers and fully assembled. most likely going to get them checked out, ported, and polished; and i would like to replace the internal parts as well. so i can just slip a cam in when i would like to. over all i bit the bullet for the heads and the camaro has a bunch of new parts for this summer. its going to be a new nature of the beast.

well i got the heads and have some time to do work on them. i know im going to have them gone through, and maybe a port and polish. i was shopping for some valve train componets and it looks like ill be spending more on the valve train then i did the heads. what does anybody recommend?? i would like to find a kit, but all are spendy.

Pewter- 2000 Z28
Great deal man! I just bought a set for $400. Picking up my 00 Z28 this weekend. Will be nice to be back into another F-Body. This time I think it will have a little more punch though.
Glad to see someone else get a good deal on a set though.
Thanks Frost for the info on the springs I was wondering the same thing!!!

what is the difference between the 243's and the 241's? i picked up a set of 241's off 6.0 GTO for $110. worth the deal?

243's have better flow on the intake and exhaust side of things. 243's also have a slightly smaller combustion chamber 64.47CC compared to the 241's 67CC chamber. This ups compression and adds power. If the 243 head is off of a Z06 and has yellow valve springs then it will have lightweight valves which drop valve train weight. 243 heads are better in every aspect then the 241 heads but 241 heads are not junk either. They are a good head.
