    1000hp

I have a 99 Z28 M6. Everything is stock is stock haven't done anything to it besides just headers. My goal is to make it into a weekend cruiser pushing 1000hp. Where do i start? Money is not an issue just trying to push 1000hp on a weekend cruiser if possible without turning it into a dragster.

Start with the drivetrain and suspension before you even touch the engine. No sense having all that power if you are going to risk breaking something every time you drive the car.

IMHO 1000hp car is not streetable. You need a ton of stuff to support the hp goals and most of those would conflict with keeping it street legal.

I not trashing your dream just giving a dose of reality.

You're looking at a LSX or 9 Forged Built motor with giant twin turbos or one hell of a supercharger. Most likely need to spray and run on methane. The rear would need to be one stout beast of a rear with the suspension upgrades to put the power to the ground. Brakes, roll cage and lighting the car's weight would also be need.

A different motor. The aluminum block of an LS1 will not handle 1000HP. The car, as it sits, will not support that either. You'll twist the frame.

You're looking at a very expensive project.

No offense to you, but you're like the 10th person to post about this "1000 hp" here....and not a single person has come through.

Sounds like a challenge. Shall we say 100 Man Points to the first new 1,000 h.p. build?

I watched the vid again (saw it a while back) and it is amazing how that car runs nose high the entire distance.

I was looking at that too. You better believe there is a ton of suspension upgrades to keep the car straight and flying true with that much power behind it.

Making 1k hp is not hard. Like the others said its all the supporting hardware that makes it usable and keeps it from destroying the car. Can you make a 1k hp streetable car yes. You see em every once in a while. But there is a reason most streetable cars top out around the 6-800 hp range. Its the amount of money research and time it takes. If you really want to build a car like that I would be in contact with a shop thats known for high hp cars like that. There is alot of good info here and on the other site to get you started and headed in the right direction.

Your looking at a new engine. There are several you can use. Something like an lsx block would be best for reliability in that range. some kind of forced induction probably a pro charger for street use but twin turbos are good also. Entire new rear and suspension setup, fuel setup, cooling needs, transmission, driveshaft etc. Pretty much replacing the entire drivetrain setup and then some.
Mods - Lid, Skip Shift Eliminator, MGW shifter, UMI SFCs, Founders Lower Control Arms, Founders Panhard Bar, Founders Adj. Torque Arm, UMI Torque arm mount, MWC Drive shaft safety loop, KONI Yellows, Strano Springs, Strano Sway bars, UMI Upper and lower A Arms, 160 thermostat, TSP headers and TSP true duals Monster stage 2 clutch, racetronix fuel pump, Strange S60 rear axle and tune by Frost.

    1. 1000hp is streetable, imo.
    2. This guy sounds like a troll.
    3. If not troll, you'll be spending at least $25,000 in parts alone. If you're paying a shop to do the work, you might as well double the parts cost.
    4. If you're going to spend $50,000 for a 1000hp car, I'll sell you my 800hp street car for $40,000.

    OK, I'll bite -

As mentioned above, you'll need all of that plus:

    - Tires
    - a roll cage - not so much for if the car flips, but to stiffen the car up
    - 3pt sub-frame connectors
    - a good seat of seats with full harness
    - BRAKES, good ones
    - CF drive shaft
    - a fully built, stout transmission. I don't think the T56 will support that amount of torque, even built?
    - a clutch that will handle the torque that goes along with 1000hp
    - you'll probably need a good 20+ psi if FI. With that, you'll need it tuned well. If Nitrous is used, I am guessing you can make around 800hp on a larger, NA motor and spray a 200 shot.

I'm with Jeremy, I was going to say 30K in parts alone.

I don't think people have a real idea what they are asking. Even 800 HP isn't easy to accomplish and still takes alot of dough. 1,000 HP on the street is going to be a power adder for sure. Procharger, nitrous, turbo, take your pick. But you are looking at a $30k investment minimum, going through the entire car front to back.

Even a naturally aspirated street car is going to be hard pressed to push 700-800 HP and be streetable. People think it's easy.....it's not. Easiest way to get there is with cubes, and that's where the LS platform has been lacking. Haven't seen anything that pushes much past the 450 ci range. So you are looking at a power adder to be streetable even at this smaller HP level.

My father just last week finished a build, a pontiac engine that dyno'd 720HP and 754TQ. 571 cubes to get there with a massive flat torque curve and runs on crap pump gas. Engine could have made 800-850 according to Bischoff but we reused a small set of cylinder heads that my father already had, which held the motor back. Money comes into play even at this level and you reach a point where you ask yourself, "when is it enough??" We are talking about a $15,000 engine as it was and it really needed another $4000 set of heads. Even so, 700+ Hp and TQ in a street car is more than most people can handle or even fatham, and we have to revamp the whole car to accept it reliably.

I think most people need a reality check when they think they are going to build a naturally aspirated 400-450 cubed engine and make 800 HP on pump gas and be streetable. Not going to happen.

I think That Nelson Guy in Cali is doing it. Twin TT with that sweet alien intake and big cube motor in a 69 Camaro. 2000K Hp and looks streetable from the vids and driving shots. He sells complete motors for 45K Ready to drop in. Just need the rest of the car to go with it. Here is one of the build parts to make it happen.
