02 SS stock cam Vs Z06 cam
I have a 02 SS stock,,,want to put a Z06 cam & Kit and some Pacesetter LT's on it. If the car ran a 13.35 stock with bolt-ons,,,how much ET would the cam and headers pick it up saying it hooked up as good as it did stock. How many more horses would the Z06 cam & the headers add to the thing. Any ideas???
Thanks

The LS6 cam is really a waste of time if you are going to put something in.
Since you will have it apart...put something worth while in there. TR224 or 228R

if you're gonna do a cam swap, the fact ls6 cam is not worth the work/money. the factory ls6 cam is really small on the exhaust side. a good cam, LT's, and a tune will put you well into the 12's. amount of power you get is all about what cam you use and your tune.
beat me to it Mr.

The second design LS6 cam would be a pretty big jump from the stock 02 camaro camshaft, remember those cars came with the tiny truck cam with only about .470 lift.
My wifes car has the #062 Vinci camshaft in it which is basically an LS6 cam with tighter lobe seperation, 112 verses 117. It's a nice little camshaft that really seems to wake that car up and turn RPM effortlessly. Compared to my 02 SS with the exact same exhaust system and same free mods,,,,my wifes 2000 SS will run circles around mine and it doesn't even have the LS6 intake yet.
At the strip it will out MPH my car by 4. Hers has went 13.15 at 110 mph with a 2,000 DA reading running through the traps in 3rd and bumping the rev limiter at 6,500. A little more seat time and I'll see close to 112 mph, the car is already good for low 12's easily. I'd say that little cam is doing a nice job in her car and still knocking 22-28 mpg city/highway. Great daily driver cam for sure with a stock stealthy idle. Sneaky you could say.
Now thats not to say I don't agree with everyone above. I bought her car this way and I'm happy with this cam for what we are doing with the car. But now if I were doing the work I would probably just jump to something slightly bigger. Still nothing wrong with the LS6 cam if you are looking for a bump in performance without sacrificing gas mileage, a stock idle, easy to tune and will pass emissions without complaint.
