    Not happy... :(

    And I'm usually always happy.

We were going to go for a drive down the freeway to visit Mary's parents. As per usual I'm out early washing and shining up the car so she looks her best. Extra care was taken to get rid of all the recent dust. Quickly stopped to pick up some cash from the ATM and we're off. Around the corner we went happily travelling along when this shmuck just pulls out from where he was parked at the curb straight into the side of me! I was lucky to see him early enough to swerve under brakes (with help of the loud shriek that came from the passenger seat). Not early enough to miss him though . Crunch! From front to back of the passenger side! Same side of the car that Mary and bubs are seated, so Mary had to calm me down before I got out...

We got out to exchange details, only to find that Ol mate is uninsured, and proceeded to give me a sob story of how he's on the pension and cant afford much. I think he thought I was just going to wear it. Given the condition of his battered blue VK Commodore, looks like my car hasn't been the only thing he's run into...

I viewed his license and wrote down his details. Insurance says I have to pay the $550 excess and they will try and get the money from the other party... Yeah right! I know the area where he lives fairly well. I dont think I'm going to get much compensation from the Govt assisted residents that live there... Went for a quote, $3500 worth of damage.

It's not caved in, but wrinkled each panel and gouged the newly powdercoated rims...

He should pay and his license should be revoked straight away.

Besides, I know where he lives, it is such a fire hazard already that it's just a matter of time anyway...

I will NEVER, for the life of me, understand how uninsured drivers feel they have the right to operate a motor vehicle. It just baffles the mind.

Man, sorry to see that. That's too bad. I guess it could have been a lot worse, but it still sucks. At least you were able to steer away and keep everyone in the car safe.

I reckon too mate. As soon as I saw the car in the rear view I knew there was no way it was insured. What bugs me most was he hasn't paid insurance for years, saved heaps of money, but still complained that he didn't have much money when I wanted his details...

They can always be worse. I'm thankful this happened on local streets and not in faster moving traffic...
