My new 2002 C5 Z06
My Trans Am broke in the beginning of October. I decided to cut my losses and just sell the car. I was tired of putting money into it. A friend of a friend bought it. I know I'll probably see the car again at shows and out terrorizing the streets at night.
After a few weeks of searching for a clean low mileage C5 Z06 in my budget I found this beauty in November
2002 Z06 w/ 39k miles. The only modification was a terrible Cyclone Induction Intake. I plan on leaving this one mostly unmolested. I fixed a few things that were wrong with it, deleted the cats since one was coming apart and got the car tuned while I was at it.
After reading up on the cyclone intake on the car I found out it's pretty terrible. You cut a giant hole in the radiator shroud and the tiny scoop doesn't grab much air but just traps dirt. Also the filter is a tiny APC filter that flows less than the factory airbox and paper filter. After pulling the filter you could see that it was clogged with dirt and has never cleaned. I replaced it with a factory modified airbox and a K&N replacement filter I found on Craigslist.
What came out
Now
Once I pulled the intake off I also discovered the throttle body had been ported. You can see the sanding lines, the grind marks on the throttle shaft and the coolant bypass has been done.
I found this picture and I really like the red pinstripe on black.
I plan on plastidipping my wheels this weekend and see how I like it.
What do you guys think?

Nice find! Now we'll see just how long you can hold out before the mods start...

Looks good. I see you fixed the shroud, but I'd pick up a factory unmolested shroud if you can, when you see one for cheap. That would just bother me. As far as looks go, I'd leave it alone. Those look good all stock.

Nice ride,plasti-dip is a good choice for the rims as its easy to reverse.

Nice ride. Yea I dont think the stock will last long. Those z06s respond to mods so well that its hard not to. I would def put full exhaust on it though. Wakes those things up.
