Bought a lemon......
Well figured I was catching a good deal for a 99 Cardinal Red TA with 86K on it. Figured 6K from the dealer wasnt that bad of a deal........so the casino was nice and I bought the car.....
Typical you know, the dealership is selling it, its been looked over they inspected it, etc, etc, etc, etc....
Fast forward 1 freakin month.....
Replaced the passenger window motor....
Replaced the MAF......
Replaced the ignition switch.....
Replaced the ignition relay......
Replaced the 4 way relay......
Replaced a fog light.........
Car was running fine.......figured it was time to mod it a little, so I contacted Mike @ rapid motor sports and set up for some new Kooks headers, and ORY, air lid, and cat delete......
Dropped the car off last night and today he calls, you need a new rear main seal and a brake line. Brake line was completely folded in half YIKES . Seems who ever replaced the last one had a little slack and decided to try to bend it to eat up the slack and they bent it in half and pinch it.
Replaced the rear main seal......
Replaced a brake line.....
6K for car from dealership woohooo
4K in repairs even before summer hits WTF FML !!!
I guess I could be happy that its all being found now instead of leaving be stranded later down the line, or even worse in the hospital because of the brake line!
--end rant
ps. called the dealership and told them i will be in with the repair slips and the bent brake line which they never shouldve passed it on inspection!! And im going to make sure that anyone in there knows the problems with their cars they sell as pre inspected and passing a vigorous standard prior to selling.

$4k in repairs? Yikes. I'd be doin the same thing going back to the dealer with bills in hand - maybe take a local news crew too! Hope you have better luck with it from now on man!
It's not how fast you can go. It's how fast you can get there.

Not as bad but still more than you shoulda had to pay/fix. Next time take it to a mechanic you trust before signing for it. If the dealer isn't willing to let you do it then they are trying to hide something.

Yeah if only I knew of a reputable mechanic around my parts. Now that I found Mike @ rapid motor sports, he will get all my work.
And to think I just put 1800 into it for stereo, window tint, and bluetooth.....oh my the mods I could have....lol

Would you sell it for $6,500?
J/K -- Sorry to hear about your troubles. Once the weather breaks, enjoy driving it and you'll feel a lot better imo.

Absolutely. Unless someone else does it first, I'll start a GM Carlisle thread a month or so before. This year we need to get the membership to post something on their dash or set a time to meet up at the pavilion. Last year, I took photographs of several member's cars and didn't realize until a week or two later that they were owned LS1.com guys.
See above reply.

Lol kind of reminds me when I bought my car. 4 days after I dropped it off transmission slave cylinder, and clutch allwent, not to mention the strut on the right side was blown. I'm finally getting to fix the suspension. But haven't had a problem with my badgirl since then

Sorry about your bad luck that really sucks.
The lesson I'll take away from this is never to buy a car from anyone unless they allow me to take it to my mechanic's shop to look it over.

blacker than wesleysnipes- 98' trans am
a few questions...isnt a ignition relay like 20 bucks ? along with the 4 way relay? for 40 bones there. Also when you say fog light..do you mean the bulb or the housing ? as the bulbs (top end) will cost you 20 bones for silverstars. The passenger window motor problem is very common. i have replaced mine with the autozone motor. i cant remember the price but i think it was 50 bucks. there is a kit for 40ish from one of our sponsors that will fix the voltage issue with the passenger motor.
the last question is who told you, that you needed a new maf ? was it stock? was it physically damaged ? did it have a screen, or are you running a k&N filter ?
besides the brake line and the maf (if it was truely faulty beyond simple cleaning or repair) ..the other things you listed are very common in f bodies and should not have cost you nearly as much as you paid (abviously the price would be even lower if you did the replacements yourself (i dont know if you did).
also how many miles on your car? as it is a 99..the rear main seal will start to fail eventually ..but i agree on that ..the dealership should have took car of those for you.
your car is far far far from a lemon.

Strauss Automotive told me to replace the MAF due to it having the codes thown when I kept stalling out for no reason, and choking out and not starting. Then after they replaced that, it left me dead on the road again, and then it was the ignition switch and the relay so that was replaced.
Im not to concerned about the window motor as I knew that was a common issue.
Although today Mike from Rapid called and again with some bad news, the transmission mounts just fell apart when he was under it, and the wires to the coil where coraded(sp) and needed to be replaced. Another 228 bucks today, but my car should be back in my hands and then I'm taking all the parts to the dealership to show them that their inspecting mechanic is a moron.
