What can be done with a 3800 Series III
I have a friend with an 04 Grand Prix GT and the 3800 Series III. He's interested in giving it some more kick. What would it take to supercharge it, and would a charger from a 3800 Series II work on it?

The intake manifold is all-aluminum, Electronic throttle control is added, as is return-less fuel injection. Emissions are also reduced.
This is what I found.

Yes it will fit. You'll prolly need the cam, lifters, pushrods, rockers, from the Supercharged series II also.. May even need the injector harness. Don't forget injectors, All the pipeing too.. Tune.. The III has slightly larger intake and exhaust valves and a sight difference in port size..

yea pretty much everything is interchangeable between 2 and 3. Although if you just wanting to do a top end swap, all you will need is the heads, intake, fuel injectors and of course the blower. Although if you can, try to get a a blower off of the 04+ cars because they are more efficient and make more power with the same amount of boost. You will aslo have to have the car tuned.

but yes, there are several companies that make parts for the series 2's, but it will all work on the 3. If just the blower isnt enough for your friend, i suggest doing a different ratio rocker swap. Its a small substitution for a cam swap.

Another thought I had was if we where to get a complete motor from a GTP and drop it in, would the GT's wiring harness and the GTP's PCM would be compatable? Being as how they're both 3800 Series III's, I'd think they would be, except maybe on top of the motor.

Top swap, 300 bucks in junk yard parts. Hardest part is the programming because of the map and stock setup.
It's basically, heads, LIM, fuel rail, injectors and the supercharger/TB. The deck on the NA blocks (L36) is shorter than the stock (L67) so he'll run more compression than a stock supercharged car so he'll have to watch the pulley size and mods that go with it.
