Look good?
I was wondering if this CAI would work well my 97 3.8( I know its for it but does it look like it will really increase performance), The stock air box is a joke and this looks like a good setup that doesn't cost $300 like the SLP version

You could adapt the 3.4 cai for your 3800.. One of our sponcers makes a far superior filter, and a plain paper filter works just as good as the K&N but keeps out dirt the K&N can't..Last edited by Smittro; 02-20-2010 at 06:02 PM.

^^^^^ this one looks better than the other one... notice the zip ties in the pic though. a dead give away that it aint gonna fit very well. you can mod it to be a "true" cold air with no prob. just by a piece of pvc pipe that is the same size as the intake piping and just extend it down through the opening. you may have to relocate the fuze box thing that i believe is bolted under where the stock air box goes, just use some zip ties to secure it somewhere since you will need em for that intake anyway. when you move that it leaves a hole to the bumper area for you to run the pipe through. you will have to connect the filter through the bottom from under the bumper. hope this helps.

I had the slp version on my 97 3.8, and liked it. I could immediately feel a difference. The slp version fit no problem, but the location of the air filter cones was in front of the wheel, and they got dirty extremely fast, even after I tried to seal the access trap door like plastic piece that bolts to the bumper of the car, and the wheel well (hope that just made sense). So, in any case where the cones do down like that there most likely will be the issue of them getting dirty really fast. I hope this helps.

well the zip ties are fine to me since its the only way I could see mounting it without taking up a bunch of room. The new filter will be where the old box was, so the air will flow into it from the the outside. still deciding if I should do it
