gutting stock air box.
hey guys, i own a 01 red m5 camaro and am wanting to gut my air box instead of purchasing the lid. ok i have heard of u guys doing this instead of purchasing a lid. am i correct in thinking that to do this u simply remove the ridges located on the top of the stock lid to increase flow? is their anything else that should be removed when drimeling this out? also will this effect a slp cold air system (the one without the lid with it)? i plan on doing this this weekend, so any help would be great, thanks in advance, forrest

um, i dont quite follow you, it does not replace anything at all, my advice to you is buy a lid and to do this mod also.

what im sayin is if i do this mod does it then make sense to buy the slp cold air system. or is this mod just something to do instead of buying the cold air system. also is not a slp or whipser lid just a smoothed out version of ours?

The link shows you the "free" mod.
Purchasing a "cold air" kit + lid is def a good idea to maximize your intake side
