Just the muffler...no. Add headers and a high-flow cat and it will.

Flowmaster isn't really known for their performance enhancement...in the v6 world at least. I don't know of any dyno tests however.

In my application it actually hurt my performance. I switched to a more open exhaust and it dramatically helped me.

sorry guys--that 80 series is better flowing and much better sounding than the stocker...you will probably pick up 5-8 hp and the sound of it alone is worth changing JUST the muffler if $ is tight.

I have an 80 Series flowmaster on my 98 LS1. It sounds good, but it could definitely be louder.

Not sure how it is power wise, since it was on the car when I bought it. Between the flowmaster muffler and the 3" catback though, it probably makes around ~10HP over the stock exhaust.

V8 exhausts seem to be very different with flowmaster, plus 10hp gain on an ls1 is equal to much less on a v6

There's plenty of data floating around here and on tech showing about a 10-15 rwhp restriction when switching to a more free flowing muffler and the nickname chokemaster
