    Difference in a 2000 and a 1997?

Whats the diff between a 1997 and a 2000 model 3800? Ive got a 2000 model that needs an engine and i can get a 97 model one for cheap. Would i have to change anything to make it work?

Correct! They also have a lid, rather than the 90*ish bend for the filter box. The v6 lids out port is slightly to the drivers side rather than strait into the TB from the lid like the LS1 cars.. There's also a HP difference between the two 170-180ish and the 2000+ 3800II is the full 200.

log and tube manifolds are both different styles of the same cast iron..

Check Gm manuals earlier years of the 3800II had less hp (180-190) than the newer years @ 200hp- 204hp... Not to mention blocks were also changed in the mid 90's to a smaller block with a slightly lower deck height..

so you go back 5 months to pick apart my post? Sorry i used the wrong wording, but you know what i meant. should have said it switched to a "tublar" style manifold. I stand corrected on the advertised differance then, but there is no way a 20hp differance is there with the minor changes.
