3800's Post them up!
Okay..
I've noticed that some new folks whom come to LS1.com don't seem to realize there is more to the site than just LS1 powered stuff..
I figured I'd bring the v6 section to light..
So here it is..
Post up what you got..
Don't care what car/truck as long as it's powered by a v6..
Modded 3800's are a plus!
Plz leave any flames @ the door when you post..
Safe to say we've/I've heard it all..
ThanxLast edited by Smittro; 04-02-2011 at 03:58 AM.
Suggestion: If you are particularly irritated by another member's posting habits and are constantly fighting the urge to flame them, you can click on that person's profile, and select "Add to ignore list." This will make that person's posts invisible to you.

Black- 99 WS.6 - Modified
I used to have a 3800 in my 2002 Grand Prix GT. Was a pretty impressive motor in stock form. Was a very nice car too. I miss it actually. I would definately get another......but a GTP this time.

I'm of a mind that GM should have used something in the DOHC v6's as a second v6 option for f-body like they did with some of the earlier W-body cars.
There was a time when the 3800, LQ1, and 4cyl engines were options in the W.
Unfortunetly the LQ1 never got beyond the w-body..
But as the father of the Northstar line it sorta lives on and will still bolt up to thier trannies.
The 6-spd manual for FWD caddies is just starting to be experimented with in the 660 crowd..
I believe "V8 Achie" has a conversion kit in the works as he's a huge Fiero builder..
I'd have to check on it tho to see..
As for the 3800 and the BOP 3.8...
It's been put in just about everything people can think to squeeze it into even 4x4 Jeeps and crawlers..lolLast edited by Smittro; 04-02-2011 at 06:02 AM.

Cosmos Purple- 2004 GTO
Used to have a 4.3 s10 and also had a 97 firebird with the 3.8 5sp and no power or ac. That thing was faster than my old automatic foxbody 5.0 that had 3.73's and exhaust lol.

Yes sir they both make pretty good torque for what they are and lacking the cudes..
Sure they are'nt crazy fast but they are'nt that slow either.
Like anything else they can be made fast..
Good after markets help and the parts to make a Domestic v6 better/faster are not all that expensive really..
Unless someone is doing something off the scale with it of course..
Somebody was even crazy enough to come up with a stroker setup for the 3800's..
Lots of potential for the enthusiast imho..Last edited by Smittro; 04-02-2011 at 01:45 PM.

Main problem with building power for the 3800 is the lack of cylinder head tech..
There are a few companies that do heads for the 3800 but other than that it's the stockers..
Stock heads can be worked but the general design is limited..
Luckly, they are about $600 or less per set, so depending on the circumstances one maybe able to mess up a couple of sets experimenting..lolLast edited by Smittro; 04-02-2011 at 01:50 PM. Reason: fixed dollar value

Same here. I never use my phone to post because I would be there forever with the tiny key pad...
But I do moble log sometimes to read articles when I'm on the fly..
I also keep track of the v6 section because a lot of the threads are about v6 DD's and the occasional v6 modder..
