1k to spend 02 firebird stock

i have a stock 2002 firebird v6 and i got about 1k to spend...I would like to make my car have the most hp,etc but keeping the gas milage the same or better......Name of the part, where to buy it and how much gain would be nice thanks

1- lid, exhaust, headers
2- nitrous
3- save your $ towards a V8 (what i would do) you can get them cheaper than you think. And you won't sacrifice much mileage over your V6.

With a 2002, you should have tubular manifolds. You don't really need headers, and probably won't notice the gains between a catback and headers-back exhaust. If you want to go with forced induction in the future though, headers will be useful. If I had $1000 to spend, I would buy a high flow cat (~$60), a quality catback, which I would get in a 3" (ranges from 250-800), lid, then possibly gears/posi. I'm not sure if you have 3.23's or higher, but unless you have a Y87 package, you don't have posi. All that installed will take you to $1000. If you install it yourself, then you'll have a little more to spend.

EDIT: Sorry, missed the gas mileage part. Gears will hurt your mpg, so if you want power as quick as possible, then look into nitrous.
