Popping on the front end!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is my first post, and though I have gotten plenty of help from the forums before I have not seen this problem here before.
The Car- 1998 Pontiac Trans Am (not a WS6 nor a Firebird dressed as a Trans Am)
The Problem- Truth be told the car is my mother in law and will be mine one day, so I care greatly about keeping it up, as she's promised when she gets her new car she going to title it over to me. Over the last couple of weeks I've been fixing several problems from replacing the top dash piece to fuel filter and brakes all around. I replaced the brakes nearly 2 monthes ago, and now when you drive the car when you come to a stop during normal driving you hear a "popping noise" from the front drivers side, but do not hear the noise during a hard stop, fast stop, or an emergency stop (when you activate the anti-lock system). I must also note that you do not feel the popping in pedal. The lugnuts are tight. It stops and drives fine. And trying to find this problem has been racking my brain, mostly because I am not a professional, and have started doing maintenence on the car purely because, my mother in law kept getting ripped off, like paying 250$ to have the check engine light off. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Last edited by corvixcanto; 08-07-2012 at 02:58 PM.

Did you put lube in the pins and stuff again?

I'd also say a stuck or sticking caliper. The harder you press on the brake pedal, the more fluid you're pushing through the line. A normal brake application may not be enough pressure to push the caliper until all of a sudden it gives, slapping it against the rotor.
Check to see if that side feels warmer than the other after a drive with some braking.Boost gets you laid, unless your name is Jon.

Sunset Orange Metalic- 2001 Camaro SS
Like Jon said one side of the rotor might feel warmer than the other, also if the car is driven enough there may be more wear on one pad versus the other.

Thanks every one, you were all a great help.
Thanks Every ONE!!!!!!!!!! I have found the problems... 2 broken wheels studs front driver's side engine and trans mounts, and thank fully to SUMMIT RACING I was able to get the Motor and trans mounts in (new heavy duty polyeurathane) for 90 and some change. My Mother in law T/A is thank fully nearly 100% complete and near 100% original. When it does become mine I will be seeking help on info for trans swaps and ws6 upgrades, depending on whether I or not I decide to keep it original, or make it more fun to drive!!!!!!!!!!!! But once again to every one thank you for your help the suspension is in great shape and i will be replacing the rotors soon, as well as the mounts, and finally get rid of the pesky P0171 (System to lean bank 1) and P0174 (system to lean bank 2) codes that have dogged the car for years, and with the help I recieved here I was able to eliminate several possiblities and find the real sources of the problems.
